About Pyxidisa
Pyxidisa seeks to unite Catholic Christian knowledge and prayers with images of timeless artistic masterworks. Using modern electronic means, prayers and artwork are combined to produce a new version of the always popular "holy card". Using three dimension animation techniques, the front and back of the holy card can be flipped to suggest depth. Seeking to broaden the experience to people of many different linguistic backgrounds, Pyxidisa provides the back of the holy card in an expanding varety of languages.
The name Pyxidisa
The name derives from two different but related sources. The first is the word 'pyx'
which is the name of the small box-like container used to store consecrated hosts.
The term originated in the Greek word
Adherence to the Magisterium
We at Pyxidisa always intend that this software comply in every way with the mind of the Church and that every element be in complete accordance with ecclesial authority. Pyxidisa has been submitted to competent diocesan authorities and we eagerly anticipate formal approval.
Encouragement to Artists
Recognizing the difficulties that artists perpetually experience in bringing their work before an audience, Pyxidisa seeks to provide a forum and means by which this may be accomplished. The first version of Pyxidisa makes use of historic images which are at least a century old, and in some cases several centuries. Wonderful talent exists today too and will continue to be gifted to humanity. See the artists section for more details on how artwork with personal attribution may be submitted for possible inclusion in future releases of Pyxidisa.
